Toll Gate was established circa 1750 as a toll station along what is now Ben Venue Road, once a colonial route for transporting goods between the mountains and Richmond. Like much of Rappahannock County, over the centuries, Toll Gate has been a part of the American narrative from Native American and Colonial settlement to the Civil War. And now, Toll Gate is a vineyard producing award winning Virginia wines. Owners Leila Nowroozi and Reynolds Wilson submitted three wines to the prestigious Virginia Governors Cup competition and came home with three medals! Come sip and see why they won!
